I just discovered, via the Huffington Blog, that Jon Robin Baitz wrote episodes of the West Wing and Alias. He’s a playwright originally recommended to me by Alan Brody for the playwriting workshop. I just started rereading The Film Society so it was a nice little convergence.
Perhaps I should reconsider watching TV again. Nah.
An Ergodic Walk 
Okay, but to be fair, the episode of The West Wing that he wrote was “The Long Goodbye” (episode 4×13), the first show that Aaron Sorkin did not have a hand in writing. It was entirely out of the show’s normal canon as it took place in Ohio and dealt with CJ (the press secretary) and her father’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease. CJ did a lot of things in that episode that were inconsistent with Sorkin’s version of her character and no other main characters had anything more than a brief cameo. I remember the first time I saw it, thinking to myself “Gee, this would make a good play or TV movie if they weren’t trying to force into The West Wing universe.”
My point simply being… he may have written a “West Wing” episode, but not really. (Although if you’d like to see his episode, let me know…)
PS – Yes, I’m kind of obsessed. On the other hand, I stopped watching once John Wells tried to turn the show into ER.
You know, Alias is pretty good. Or maybe it’s just that I have a thing for spies.
