A Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field is required. All new members of the School of Engineering faculty are expected to develop a research program and obtain external funding to support it. The DIMACS Center based at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ is seeking a Director. This is a five-year renewable appointment as Director as well as a tenured full professor position in an appropriate Rutgers department.
Founded in 1989 in the first class of NSF Science and Technology Centers, DIMACS catalyzes and conducts research and education in mathematical, computational, and statistical methods, algorithms, modeling, and data analysis, as well as their applications in the physical, biological, and social sciences and various engineering disciplines. DIMACS’s multi-year special focus programs address research themes that require topical expertise in these areas, have potential for societal impact, and are poised for advance. Its education programs include materials development for high school and college classrooms, an extensive summer undergraduate research program, and teacher education programs. DIMACS also leads the CCICADA Center for Advanced Data Analysis, which was founded as a Department of Homeland Security University Center of Excellence. DIMACS, the Center for Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science, invites applications for various postdoctoral associate positions for 2017-18. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Rutgers University is seeking a dynamic and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to work on developing distributed machine learning algorithms that work on complex neuroimaging data. This work is in collaboration with the Mind Research Network in Albuquerque, New Mexico under NIH Grant 1R01DA040487-01A1.
Candidates with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics or related areas with experience in one of
- distributed signal processing or optimization
- image processing with applications in biomedical imaging
- machine learning theory (but with a desire to interface with practice)
- privacy-preserving algorithms (preferably differential privacy)

- a strong mathematical background: this project is about translating theory to practice, so a solid understanding of mathematical formalizations is crucial;

Two postdoctoral research positions are now available in the Department of Electrical Engineering – Systems at Tel Aviv University, Israel, in the fields of information theory and interactive communications. Starting immediately for up to two years. Funded by the European Research Council (ERC).
We offer two postdoctoral fellowships for researchers in the broad area of information theory, with special emphasis on interactive communications. Specific topics of interest include single-user and multiuser communications with noisy feedback, iterative-refinement coding for two-way channels, interactive coding and its relations to dynamical systems and stochastic control, resource-limited interactive communications, distributed function computation, and combinatorial aspects of multiuser interactive communications. The research will be conducted in close collaboration with Dr. Ofer Shayevitz and his group, and is funded by a grant from the European Research Council (ERC).

There’s an opening in Professor Madhow’s group at UC Santa Barbara:
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in communications/signal processing/controls who is interested in applying these skills to a varied set of problems arising from a number of projects. These include hardware-adapted signal processing for communications and radar, neuro-inspired signal processing architectures, and inference in online social networks. In particular, familiarity with Bayesian inference is highly desirable, even if that is not the primary research area for his/her PhD. There are also opportunities to work on problems in next generation communication systems, including millimeter wave networking and distributed communication. While the researcher will be affiliated with Prof. Madhow’s group in the ECE Department at UCSB, depending on the problem(s) chosen, he/she may need to interact with faculty collaborators in other disciplines such as circuits, controls, computer science and neuroscience, as well as with colleagues with expertise in signal processing and communications. Thus, in addition to technical depth and talent, a flexible attitude and openness to interdisciplinary collaboration is essential.
