I’m in Chicago for the 2004 International Symposium on Information Theory. I fully expect my brain to explode in the next few days from overload. Given the current progress I’ve made on my research, I have a suspicion that the next week will be rather depressing.
Not related to your post. But, why not.. Last week I finally cracked open Norbert Weiner’s Cybernetics. Obviously enough, it’s the chapter introducing ergodic theory that is kicking my butt, largely because I am not young enough to know everything. Hi, Anand.
Hey hey hey Omri! Cybernetics is an odd book — a little past its prime I think, but it really captures the excitement in those days. The feeling of what could be from that era is sometimes infectious if you let yourself get lost in it. Hooray idealism!
